I have always had an interest in visual arts and had often wanted to paint beyond my ‘O’ Level Art attainment of 1967! Fifty years later, in 2017, I had a vivid dream about painting brightly coloured abstract flowers but I still held back. Then the following year I was delighted to be invited to participate in the ‘Grafham Group’ art workshops run by my friend Mary Hainline, an established artist.
Mary’s and the group's encouragement has given me the opportunity, inspiration and confidence to ‘have a go’ and fulfil my long-held desire to paint and to share in the joy of painting – in group workshops and, now, in my own studio in Guildford. I particularly enjoy painting joyful, colourful, and ‘quirky’ nature-based themes.
